Leading HEPA Air Filter Manufacturers

A mechanical air filter with pleats is an example of a HEPA. High-efficiency particulate airflow filter is the name of the acronym. Theoretically, this kind of air filter can eliminate 99.97% or more of sand, pollen, mold, germs, and any other airborne particles smaller than 0.3 microns (m). The worst-case scenario is addressed with the diameter standard of 0.3 microns, the most penetrating particle size (MPPS). Even more effective are smaller or larger particles trapped. The efficiency rating is calculated using the worst-case particle size, 99.97% or higher for all particle sizes. Read More…

HEPA Air Filters HEPA air filters, or “high efficiency particulate air” filters are among the most effective type of air cleaner filter used, removing a minimum of 99.97 percent of unwanted particulates from an air stream, as defined by the Institute of Environmental Science. Small particles such as dust, pollen, animal dander, airborne bacterial organisms and contaminants can be removed by using HEPA filters to trap the particles. The size of 0.3 microns is the testing standards for filters in order for them to be classified as true HEPA filters. The filters which meet the required standards are assigned a serial number to prove their authenticity.

HEPA Air Filter Operation

HEPA filters use a filtration mechanism comparable to a sieve, strainer, or net but far more complex and capable of capturing even the smallest airborne particles. The HEPA filter process has four mechanisms: electrostatic attraction, interception, diffusion, and impaction. The first items to be removed, like with all types of filters, are big and simple to catch. Then, progressively smaller particles are captured as filtering progress, beginning with the initial stages and continuing through finer materials.

HEPA Air Filter Design

The filters are usually constructed from fiberglass fibers randomly placed in densities. The fiber's diameter and thickness directly influence the filter's effectiveness and the proportion of its filtration ability. Like similarly efficient ULPA filters, HEPA filters tend to be extremely dense, which may necessitate a flow system with a more potent engine than a typical air purifier filter because of the additional power needed to move most of the air past the filter. As the air passes through the filter, particles are caught by the numerous interlocking fibers, preventing their recirculation back into the atmosphere.

HEPA Air Filter Fibers

Fibers of polyester or fiberglass with diameters smaller than one micron are densely woven together to create HEPA filters. A mesh labyrinth without a clear path is made by twisting, turning, scattering, and randomly placing the fibers in various directions. HEPA filters may capture particles as thin as 0.3 microns since the gaps between the fibers are less than half a millimeter wide. The threads of the HEPA filter were examined under a microscope to get the image below. The irregularity in the positioning of the fibers is seen below.

HEPA Air Filter Frame

A HEPA filter's frame may be constructed from a wide range of materials. The frames for manufacturing and industrial applications are typically constructed from hardy, sturdy, and long-lasting materials like carbon steel, aluminum, or stainless steel. However, the frame's size needs to be carefully considered because it can cause the pressure drop to increase due to its opposition to the airstream.

HEPA Air Filter Applications

HEPA air filters have a variety of uses. They are also essential in medical settings, including cleaning rooms, hospital operating and isolating rooms, and pharmaceutical manufacturing. The purest HEPA filter, which can also be combined with UV light to guarantee air purity, helps to prevent the spread of viral and bacterial illnesses in the air. Due to the extreme levels of cleanliness needed in the air, HEPA filters are also used in other applications, such as the circulation systems of newer cars and airplanes. HEPA filters are frequently utilized in industrial settings due to how good they are at capturing particles.

Biosafety Cabinet

The purpose of biosafety cabinets is to safeguard employees who handle dangerous products. They have vertical laminar airflow, a barrier for bacteria and airborne particles. The air that leaves the work area and is released into the environment is cleaned using HEPA filters. Biosafety cabinets come in three classes: I, II, and III. Safety for employees, the atmosphere, and products is provided by classes II and III. First-class cabinets are fairly simple and safeguard both people and the environment. Biosafety cabinets can successfully stop contamination, illnesses, and spreading of dangerous chemicals when used properly.

Hospitals Use HEPA Air Filters

Hospitals need HEPA filters, just like clean rooms, to stop patient contamination and the transmission of infectious and harmful diseases.

Medical HEPA Air Filter
  • Medical Suites - It is crucial to filter and maintain clean and clear air in operating rooms. HEPA filters are utilized to protect patients from airborne particles that could harm them while sensitive organs are exposed during medical operations.
  • Incubators - Due to the nature of their immature immune systems, newborns are prone to various illnesses. In neonatal intensive care units, HEPA filters are particularly crucial for removing bacteria, viruses, and other infectious organisms from the air in incubators. In addition, they make sure that there are no germs in the airflow.
  • Laboratories - Laboratories deal with harmful microorganisms and operate similarly to a clean room. The removal of germs, pathogens, and pollutants by HEPA filters under such circumstances is mandated by law to stop their spread outside the testing area.

Choosing the Correct HEPA Air Filters Company

To make sure you have the most positive outcome when purchasing HEPA Air Filters from a HEPA Air Filters Manufacturer, it is important to compare at least 4 Manufacturers using our list of HEPA Air Filters companies.
